Co-Creating Our September Together

Dear Community Friends:

I have heard from many of you about your great summer experiences. We are looking forward to connecting and catching up. We have some ideas about upcoming events and in building “power with” together.

As we move into September, would you like to explore deeper our commitment to mutual practice, shared growth, and collaborative leadership?

The last year has built a great foundation for The Social Intelligence Lab community.

What could or would you like to contribute to or collaborate on with this community?
What is your objective for joining a safe community to practice "power with"?
What would you like to experience, achieve, learn and grow by joining our practice community?

One of the things Anna and I learned during the summer at the Power of Understanding book salon is that there is a quiet revolution in many fields. We have had participation from many diverse individuals from across various interest areas and expertise. The common thread we all have is an interest in dismantling the rigid paradigms of dealmaking and step into a safe and productive space of deal makers who are anchored and prepared to get what they need.

A theme that emerged across every conversation was: Powerlessness is a choice, and true success begins with practice.

Social Intelligence Lab (Invite Only) avatar Social Intelligence Lab (Invite Only)

To expand the reach and impact of our practice, we are asking for your voice and support this month. True "Power With" practices thrive on reciprocal value and shared ownership. Here are three simple ways you can help us build:

  • Invite a Collaborative Peer: Bring a colleague, partner, or friend who is eager to move beyond traditional, coercive negotiation models to our next live session.
  • Share Your Real-World Impact: Have you applied an Applied Improv or collaborative negotiation framework recently? Reply directly to this email with a quick reflection—we’d love to spotlight member insights in future editions.
  • Shape Our Upcoming Topics: Tell us what challenges or scenarios you are navigating right now so we can design future workshops that address your immediate needs.

Thank you for bringing your energy, curiosity, and commitment to this space.

Warmly,
Karen S. Walch

Dear Community Friends: Welcome to the October edition of the Social Intelligence Lab newsletter. This community exists because of the people in it, and this month we want to hear from you. As we continue building a safe space to practice “power with”, where influence is shared and every voice counts, we’d like to know what brings you here and what you hope to give and gain. Below are three short questions about what you’d like to contribute, why you joined, and how you want to grow. They...

Greetings from Arizona, I am connecting with you again to learn how you have been experiencing negotiation in real practice. Since retiring from teaching, I’ve found myself reflecting on so many chapters of my life: the winding path to finishing my degree, managing a scuba resort in Honduras, and one especially powerful memory — the day I didn’t speak up for my team, and the powerlessness I felt in that silence. That moment changed everything. It set me on a journey I’m still on today:...
